Sometimes

I get to thinking that this banjo I have here sounds alright, then I really listen to it and hear it's empty broomstick tone and wet paper towel ring, then I wish I hadn't listened deeper... Anyone want a toy that makes banjo noises?

I guess this means I've brushed off my rust and am being limited by this instrument again...I've played banjo less than 10 times in the last 6 months, but about 5 times in the last 3 days and I'm just about back to where I was a year ago, still hoping to get where I was about 10 months ago :)

I'm pretty happy that I'm playing again though, I never would have guessed that all four of the 2009 flat mates would be back together in 20-10 or that Lapsap would be reunited, it's great when things come together

  1. Hi Adam-Life in HK sounds quite busy now. Life in this little town has been busy. It seems time just slips away. Thanks for the Napal pictures-enjoyed them very much. We were quests for dinner with your mom and dad-Nana & Papa P-Laurie-Austin & Erin and Kristen and Steve. Enjoyed a great meal and celebrated Austin"s Birthday. Always fun to be with all. Purchased two more kayaks today-we now have 5 in our inventory of kayaks. Looking forward to summer. There is spring in the air. We are hoping that we are not in for any more big storms. Good to hear all about your travels-its like being there. Keep safe and have fun. Love you and miss you. Nana & Papa C

  2. I really like two of your links: "It's easier to teach compliance than initiative" and "Hunters and Farmers."

I think today's education systems are, in general, suppressing young people rather than empowering them because it takes a great deal of effort to identify different types of learners and then cater to their diverse strengths. It's much easier to drug the "hunters" and make everyone shut up, sit still, and complete endless fill-in-the-blank worksheets.

Oooooooooooh, don't get me started on this one!! ;-)

  5. Hi again Adam! I'm at work so thought I would comment. Things are well here, weather has been good- sunny all week and in the 40's low 50's some days! We are all hoping March will not turn into a lion...we usually get some good storms this month. Papa P. is doing well- he only has oxygen at night now or when he feels he needs it which is a good thing. He came down for Austin's b'day last Sunday, it was great to see him visiting with the guys. Sickness never seems to be totally gone though, K-10 has fever and was in bed yesterday not feeling too well. Just a fever, she hasn't blossomed out with other symptoms yet. This was the winter of sickness. Tonight Austin and Chad are playing a show (music) at Travis's for their friends. Chad got a new drum set this week at Dick's Country Store, he won't bring it to Travis's but boy was he ever excited about it- he had saved up his money for a long time to get it. Austy heads back to school tomorrow, riding with another buddy, Matt, from P'burgh. Well, there is some of what's going on here. Hope your 5K beer run was lots o' fun! Love you much- Mom
