Official announcement

No, I'm not going to start blogging again.  I don't really have the desire to do it any more.  I'm really glad that I kept a blog for as long as I did and the last 6 weeks I haven't been posting I've been enjoying everything and haven't felt compelled to make a new post about it.  Not that I ever forced myself to update, but whenever I did something I'd always have "I should put this up" in the back of my mind.

However, I'm still very active on Twitter and have an infrequent email list to send family and friends links to pictures and video that I've taken.  If you want to be on the email list and aren't already on it, comment and let me know.

The big announcement is that Katy, Jonathan, and I will be in New York this summer.  I will arrive July 10th, Katy will arrive July 17th because of work, and Jonathan will arrive on July 20th after traveling with his grandmother to a bunch of different universities.  I'll be in NY until August 10, Katy until August 7th and Jonathan until August 2.

I doubt there are many people that read this that didn't already know we are coming back.  Tickets are booked, it's happening! The Hong Kong Petrashunes are preparing for Redford fiddler's meets, Chazy Lake, water park, and all the rest!

See everyone in two months!!

...Also have to add that I'm finally bringing my OME back Hong Kong, such a shame it's been sitting in the basement for the last two years...

Captains log 3-320-11:

An intergalactic-virus confined me to my pod for the greater part of the day. I awoke to a continued ill feeling, it seems as if The Sickness has taken hold deep within my being.

I emerged once to greet the cleaning droid and again briefly to settle business with the water provision council.

In an attempt to snap out of the coma I am falling in to, I rehydrated a yellow spice chicken for the others and I during evening meal.

Feeling ill, I attempted a liquid submersion. However, rebels have disrupted the pure liquids supply chain and I was unable to complete the process.

Eating the new bird brought satisfaction, albeit slight as I was unable to concentrate on flavors during this period. I was informed that the pure liquid lines had been restored over evening meal and the radiation collector had successfully imbued energy in the liquid. I excused myself from the others and attempted to cleanse the intergalactic hitchhiker within me.

I returned to my pod where I shall soon fall in to hypersleep in hopes that during the next rotation I will be able to emerge victorious.

To be continued.....

Or will it???

#Mrμμ is back!! No tail and all, he's not dead

#Mrμμ is currently crushing the shit out of some plastic planters while acquiring food, I'm sure he could avoid them if he wanted to

Damn, #Mrμμ just went out of his way to eat and stomp on that planter
#Mrμμ ain't got time for your shit, he does have time to take a shit,in your walkway,on the dark tiles,so you can't see it & then step on it at night

Now #Mrμμ taunting all the local dogs looking out the window at him, he just has a blank stare towards them while chewing his cud

#Mrμμ just disappeared, off to mess up more people's shit. Time for him to dig himself a mud pit in the center of someone's garden

#Mrμμ's to do list:
chill out in the street & get honked at
look sickly & get free food from locals
act like I can't walk up or down stairs

#Mrμμ 's to do list:
set off some car alarms & act like I didn't know any better

For some reason

I envisioned this excavator ("digger" or "digga" in Kiwi talk) to be rolling down to the other end of the beach to do battle with another mechstrosity

My Wilderness First Responder certification expired February 1 so if anyone needs their life saved I'm afraid I can't help you. Or you could give me a grand to take the course and then I'll come back and save you.

I can't believe it's been three years since I've taken that course. I can't believe it's been five years since I took my first WFR. Someone stabilize my C-spine

What do Cuban cigars and these have in common?

Maybe it's because I'm American but I really want to shove this entire chocolate egg into my mouth

Oh wow, good thing i didn't, there's some plastic yellow thing inside it

Heh, I would have looked like quite the fool if I had to pick this out of my stomach or my trachea

Must resist urge to devour entire egg
Answer: They will both get confiscated if you try to bring them into the USA.  Thank you lawmakers of 1938 for keeping me from choking on this awful monstrosity.

Here are the first few:

Two more longer clips are coming soon!

Chinese New Year 2011

We just returned from Victoria Park on Hong Kong Island, there was a massive celebration going on for Chinese New Year.  We wanted to check out all that was going on, there were tons of people and stalls selling all kinds of stuff.  Everything from octopus tentacles to Angry Birds stuffed toys and peach tree branches were available.

I took a bunch of video of the Dragon Dances and Lion Dances that I'm uploading to Youtube right now, I'll post them tomorrow morning. Here are some pictures though

A Little Change

I made a new twitter account just for this blog @DrBhk

I've been thinking about online privacy having a facebook, twitter, and a blog with my real name it made me pause.  I think I will try to post only DrBhk blog related stuff with the @DrBhk and have it show up on the front page here.

@NOLScgp will be protected personal tweets that the general public can't see.  If you really want to see them (whomever you are) just make a twitter account and follow me and I will (probably) approve you :)

This is just a test, if it doesn't work I'll change it back

New Nepal Post, Day 8

How to upload photos to Picasa

For Karen and anyone else in NY that has a gmail account and wants to upload any pictures to send over

1) Go to www.picasa.google.com
2) Click on the "picasa web albums" link, you don't have to download the program unless you really want to, it does make things easier though
3)It will want you to make an account or something, just click create and continue
4) Next it may want to try to have you launch the Picasa Desktop application that you don't have, just cancel out of that.
5) Click on the "Upload"
6) Then it will ask you to Create a New Album, just fill in the information that you want to and hit continue
7) Then it will bring you to a place where you can choose up to 5 files to upload.  If you have more than that, the desktop application is probably better, but that's a different post all together.  I'll put in something at the end about it.

8) You then browse to your camera or a folder that has your pictures in it, select one and then click "start upload"
9) Wait a few minutes for it to finish

Now when you go to make a post in blogger, the little "insert image" box at the top of the Post Editor has a "Picasa Web Albums" option and you just go there and select all the photos you want it it puts them right in.

A basic rundown of Picasa Desktop
Download and install it, sign in (the same login as your Gmail account), select the import button at the top while your camera is plugged in to the USB, import your photos and then select the little slider that says "sync to web" then the confirmation box and your done.  Then go to Step 9 and make your post

Comment or email with any questions!
